Uncle Lyle’s Letters

This a transcription of 226 letters written by Lyle Hedman, a South Dakota farm boy. He was an uncle who was killed digging up mines in March 1945, two months before Germany surrendered and a year before I was born. This project is dedicated to his sister (my mother), Alice (Hedman Mueller) Howland (88), who still lives on the South Dakota farm where I was raised.
